Zinc carbonate, white fine amorphous powder, odorless. The main component of smithsonite, formed in secondary mineral weathering or oxidation zones of zinc-bearing deposits, and sometimes substituted carbonate rock bodies may constitute zinc ore. Zinc carbonate is used as a light astringent, formulating calamine, skin protectant, raw material for latex products.
